Fiercely Innocent

“Treat the earth well: we do not inherit the Earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children.”
– Ancient Indian Proverb

Lately I have been wanting to something a little different with my photoshoots. I had a vision of a girl coming into her own. She dreams of the days she can be fierce and yet remains soft an innocent within herself. I was so thrilled to find that Emily wanted to do this shoot. She has a natural beauty that radiates purity. Her pensive look makes you wonder what she is thinking, but watch out, when you get to know her, the playful side comes out. In this earthy photoshoot, Emily’s resolve rose up as we asked her to pose with (Diamond) a horse she just met. Great Job Emily and a big THANK YOU to everyone who made this happen.

The Waiting | Northern California Portrait Photographer

Last week I had the opportunity spend some time with the beautiful Alexandrea Lamb. As we found ourselves in an old historic home (North Star House in Grass Valley) I asked her to sit by the window as if waiting for a loved one to return… as if waiting was her only job in life.

W-a-i-t… four little letters with such profound meaning makeup that word. In today’s day and age with fast food, fast cars, and express check out lanes, waiting has become a lost art. We want what we want, when we want it. Usually we want it NOW! Waiting can be a good thing though. After all, doesn’t the saying go, ” Good things come to those that wait.”

Then there is the unhealthy waiting. The paralyzing fear of what will come, so we freeze, or the dreaming of tomorrow and better days, so much so that we can’t enjoy the here and now.

Waiting… Is it a season? Is it an art? Is it a chore?

Is there something you are desperately waiting for? If so, you might want to contemplate your waiting…

while you wait.

“Whatever we are waiting for – peace of mind, contentment, grace, the inner awareness of simple abundance – it will surely come to us, but only when we are ready to receive it with an open and grateful heart.”-Sarah Ban Breathnach

Hmmm. Maybe we should stop for a moment and be grateful in the waiting…Just a thought.

Hoping you enjoy the day…moment by moment,
