The Waiting | Northern California Portrait Photographer

Last week I had the opportunity spend some time with the beautiful Alexandrea Lamb. As we found ourselves in an old historic home (North Star House in Grass Valley) I asked her to sit by the window as if waiting for a loved one to return… as if waiting was her only job in life.

W-a-i-t… four little letters with such profound meaning makeup that word. In today’s day and age with fast food, fast cars, and express check out lanes, waiting has become a lost art. We want what we want, when we want it. Usually we want it NOW! Waiting can be a good thing though. After all, doesn’t the saying go, ” Good things come to those that wait.”

Then there is the unhealthy waiting. The paralyzing fear of what will come, so we freeze, or the dreaming of tomorrow and better days, so much so that we can’t enjoy the here and now.

Waiting… Is it a season? Is it an art? Is it a chore?

Is there something you are desperately waiting for? If so, you might want to contemplate your waiting…

while you wait.

“Whatever we are waiting for – peace of mind, contentment, grace, the inner awareness of simple abundance – it will surely come to us, but only when we are ready to receive it with an open and grateful heart.”-Sarah Ban Breathnach

Hmmm. Maybe we should stop for a moment and be grateful in the waiting…Just a thought.

Hoping you enjoy the day…moment by moment,
